Built on Higher Standards Since 1935

Motz Engineering began in Cincinnati in 1935, when O. Wayne Motz and wife founded Motz Engineering  to provide refrigeration engineering services for a local Cincinnati grocery distribution business. 

From the beginning, the work reflected a practical approach to engineering: understand how systems will operate, use technology thoughtfully and design for long-term performance.

As the firm grew across generations, Motz expanded its capabilities and the complexity of projects it supported. Wayne’s son, W. Bruce Motz, joined the firm in the 1970s, when the firm primarily served Cincinnati Gas & Electric and Cincinnati Bell. In the 1990s, third generation leader, R. Bradly Motz, took over the firm and broadened the focus into K-12, Higher Education, and Workplace projects.

In 2015, ownership transferred to  a new family: the Murdocks. Today, under the leadership of Suzie Murdock Engel, PE, the firm continues to build on that foundation with a renewed focus on high-quality work, strong teams  and disciplined project execution with the IMPRESS Process™.

The firm has evolved significantly since 1935, but the expectation remains the same: deliver thoughtful engineering, solve problems early and create systems that perform well over the long term.

Known for a practical, jobsite-oriented approach, Cory helps teams reduce delays, improve system performance, and support smoother project turnover through disciplined verification and clear communication.

Harrison reflects Motz’s commitment to disciplined coordination, responsiveness, and delivering reliable outcomes through consistent follow-through.

Ben Young

Sr. Project Manager & MEP Equipment Procurement Leader

Ben Young leads & supports systems, coordination, procurement, and logistics of MEP equipment. A little more than 25% of Motz Engineering Clients prefer Motz to procure and manage logistics of their MEP Equipment to limit field coordination issues and avoid supply-chain logistic challenges. His day-to-day responsibilities include managing Motz’s high-profile projects, as well as manage the logistics of $10Ms+ of MEP Equipment.
