Motz Engineering provided electrical engineering support for the modernization of the Ohio Expo Center and State Fairgrounds in Columbus, which has served as a gathering place for community, agriculture, education, and celebration for generations of Ohioans. Home to the annual Ohio State Fair and countless year-round events, the historic campus represents one of the state’s most recognizable public assets. As part of a significant modernization initiative, the State of Ohio invested in upgrading key facilities while preserving the character and legacy that make the Expo Center an Ohio landmark.

Motz Engineering was selected to provide professional electrical engineering services in support of the lead engineering team, augmenting project resources and contributing to the successful delivery of this high-profile, state-funded renovation. As an EDGE-certified engineering partner, Motz was proud to support a project that emphasized inclusion while investing in the future of one of Ohio’s most treasured public destinations.

Working seamlessly within the established project team, Motz Engineering quickly Integrated and Maintained alignment with the lead engineer’s design standards and project workflows. The team provided electrical distribution design, lighting design, low-voltage and receptacle design, fire alarm design, and feeders and disconnects supporting HVAC systems and owner-furnished equipment. Throughout the project, Motz delivered responsive engineering support while maintaining consistency with the project’s technical standards and schedule.

The project demonstrates Motz Engineering’s ability to Integrate [DG1.1]as a trusted extension of larger design teams on complex public-sector projects. Whether serving as Engineer of Record or providing specialized engineering support, the firm brings the technical expertise, collaboration, and reliability needed to help state-funded projects move forward with confidence.

For many members of the Motz Engineering team, the project carried personal significance as well. The building is home to the iconic butter cow sculpture, a centerpiece of the Ohio State Fair that generations of Ohio families have visited year after year. Contributing to the modernization of a place that holds so many shared memories made this project especially meaningful.
